THE REBELLION HAS ENDED
THE REBELS WERE DEFEATED
AND PANEM IS CHANGING
THE REBELS WERE DEFEATED
AND PANEM IS CHANGING
The rebellion has come to a screeching halt, the forces of the Capitol have entered District 13 and apprehended the mastermind behind the rebellion, President Coin. Brought before President Snow they held a mock trial for her to set up a public trial before the people of Panem. They would make an example of her for anyone else who was foolish enough to challenge the might of the Capitol. Along with this public trial, and eventual execution, a very special announcement would be made to the people. An announcement that would shake the very foundations of Panem and insure that no one would ever attempt to question the authority of Snow, or his descendants.
President Snow's Address to the People
Turning around Snow walked off the balcony with a smile on his face. Once more the people knew who really held the power in this world.[/blockquote][/blockquote]Snow walked about his office, the picture of absolute perfection, and that was as it should be. The people needed to see perfection, they needed to have something that they could look up to, and aspire to be like. The rebellion was over, and soon any thoughts from the remnants would be squashed under the mighty heel of the Capitol. He had all the pieces in place, the rebellion leaders had been taken down, and the mastermind behind it all was in his custody soon to be executed before the people of Panem. An example had to be made to them, they had to know and understand that there was zero tolerance for actions against the Capitol. Apparently the first rebellion that had ended in failure so many years ago hadn't been enough for them. Two Peacekeepers walked into the room and handed Snow a small piece of paper, and directly behind them was his staff. It was almost time to address the people; it was almost time for them to know who really held the power in Panem.
Walking over to a pair of doors that opened up onto a balcony, he took a deap breath and pushed them open, forcing a fake smile onto his face. The roar of the Capitalites met his ears, there cheers deafening as they chanted his name. They knew who there leader was, they knew who had protected them from the insurgents. After several minutes he raised his hands to silence the crowd. "People of Panem, you have survived a terrible conflict that nearly tore apart our wonderful land. Long have I worked tirelessly to protect all the people of each district, but that was not enough for them. They sought to sieze control from me and overthrow our current government. This is how I get repayed for everything I have done for them, with thoughts of rebellion and even a tyrant leader to lead them. They elected a new ruler before I was even overthrown, President Coin they call her, so confident were they that they would succeed. Under the banner of the eledged "MockingJay", Katniss Everdeen, they sought to rally the people against me. No more though. Their rallying point was slain and the heart and soul of the rebellion taken away."
With a wave of his hand, far below the balcony four Peacekeepers emerged, two escorted President Coin out before the people, and the other two dragged the broken body of Katniss Everdeen. Gasps and shouts rose up from the people gathered in the City Square as their eyes fell upon the two people most responsible for the rebellion. Some of them threw things at Coin while others seemed to spit on her as she was escorted to the center of the square. When the Peacekeepers reached the center of the square Coin was bound to a pole that stood erect for all the people to see, and half of the cameras moved to watch her. "Citizens of Panem, Coin has been found guilty of treason against the Capital, and were the traitor Katniss Everdeen still alive she would be executed with her. This day will be remembered as the day that the second great rebellion of Panem would be put to rest. I'm certain that we all hope and pray this will be the last rebellion that we have to witness... for our childrens sakes." His voice boomed out across all of Panem, and finally the world was quiet. With a motion of his hand one of the Peacekeepers took twenty paces away from Coin, raised his rifle, and took the shot that ended the rebellion. The loud sound of a bullet being fired could be heard for miles, and all the cameras caught it on tape for all of Panem to witness. A statement had been made that day, the level of tolerance for rebellion; how the might of the Capitol reigned supreme.
"The rebellion is over now, and you may all rest easy tonight now that you are safe. From this day forth let none question the authority of the Capitol. We are a fair people who want safety and fairness above all else, but there are those who would seek to take that away from us. We do not wish for conflict and bloodshed, but when our people are threatened it becomes necessary to use force. Now, return to your homes and make the preparations for... the 77th Hunger Games."
Finished
What the people of Panem didn't know was that President Snow's health was failing him. The rebellion had taken it's toll on him and he was only a shell of his former self. In the shadows of the mansion that acted as home to Snow sat a girl, waiting for her chance to seize control from her ailing grandfather. The granddaughter of President Snow of Panem was biding her time, waiting for the day that her grandfather would fall to the stress and illness that was slowly killing him. A smile formed on her face as she listened to the cheers of the people because she knew her time would come soon... so very soon.
