Previously, on Glee:
Five years ago, New Directions graduated and moved to New York, most losing touch with each other. Tragedy slowly brings them back together. In the 2013-2014 school year, in spite of winning Nationals twice in a row, Principal Figgins disbanded New Directions. Before Will died, Sue promised him to resurrect the glee club.
Meanwhile, the Warblers have been to Nationals, and even brought home a win. Vocal Adrenaline has missed that Nationals trophy the last few years. All three groups are determined to win Nationals (and afterwards, the Battle of the Voices) this year for their own reasons.
