[atrb=width,240] The average Joe probably wouldn't be found outside, in a deserted field, around twilight. Quite frankly, the average Joe would have more common sense than to actually be out there in the first place. However, with Destie, a lack of common sense came with the position of being an angel. Well, and it was just part of her being naturally. She didn't need to bother with as much worrying as the half of everyone else, since she could very obviously take care of herself in a multitude of situations. Despite common belief. Destie's appearance did not, after all, give away any significant ideas that she may be able to hold off any creepers that roamed about at night. She put any thoughts that pointed to other ideas to bed easily though. Destie didn't like being doubted, after all. Destie most definitely wasn't afraid of the dark, or anyone who might appear at a bit of a later time, however. There were a rather small amount of things that actually truly managed to frighten the angel. Throughout her on average five hundred years of experience she had seen many things, and experienced just as many horrifying things. Once you had been through so much there seemed to become fewer and fewer things that had the ability to frighten you as much as things had at first. For Destie, at the beginning of her existence, everything had been a clear and obvious fright. Every day had been filled with tireless figuring outs that had be accomplished in order for her to adjust and fit in within the mortal world. It had been much more difficult than anything she could potentially face in the unoccupied meadow. The meadow that she had traveled to in order to stretch her wings, just a bit. After all, while it typically went unnoticed by any of the mortals that anything was off with anything large soaring through the sky, it wasn't quite worth the risk. Destie knew she had made enough mistakes so far in her life, so there wasn't truly any way that she was going to further her humiliation at her own actions. She was sure that she wouldn't be able to forgive herself enough the next time something that bad happened. Destie gave a shake of her head in order to clear her thoughts. It would do her know good to not be paying attention and end up flying into something. The angel grinned to herself at the thought, rolling her shoulders back, just as her wings, a rather radiant white in color, erupted from her back, through the slits that she had cut for exactly that purpose. The girl flapped her wings a few times experimentally before she actually utilized them in lifting herself off of the ground. For a few moments after taking off Destie didn't dare to fly any higher than a few feet off of the ground. It would, all in all, do her no good if she ended up plummeting from one hundred feet in the air if her wings ended up giving out on her. A few moments later Destie tilted her wings upward, flapping them in a powerful stroke of her wings and spiraling upward rapidly. The speed wasn't anything new to the young angel as she began to swoop in spirals above the meadow, the air blowing back her hair. Being in the skies, among the birds was more comforting than anything else that she knew of could ever be to her. It was the same way with a majority of the places within town. Granted, she was sure that she would still be at least a little comfortable in Italy, with it being her first home. The places in between, or, at least some of them didn't offer half of the same comfort. That was, if they didn't dredge up enough terrible memories for her. The patterns she flew in were rather random in nature as Destie studied the ground from her place so very high above it. She could see nearly everything, so, so far in the distant. Miles away, even. The still, in comparison, relatively young angel could see the forests, several houses and the shore of the beach. It was all so very wondrous to have the ability to see everything about with a bird's eye view. Half of the people in the world couldn't even know what they were missing. All mortals did by manner of flight was ride along in their metal birds called 'planes.' They were cut off from feeling the wind blowing through their hair, unless they were going at top speed in their car with the windows rolled down. That would never be quite the same, though. Despite the obvious joy that had appeared upon Destie's face for the whole duration of her flight, the angel had eventually had the necessity to land. Even though, if she had her way she would have the ability to stay in the sky all day. However, her wing muscles would eventually begin to tire, just a bit. Quite a discouraging event, it was, but Destie enjoyed the lengths of time up in the sky nonetheless. Destie landed gingerly on the ground within the long grass of the meadow only a few heartbeats later. Her still beating wings blew back a bit of the grass that was located within their span. Gingerly, the girl folded her wings back through the slits in her shirt, pressing them against her back once again. This was when she noticed the bit of ruffling of the long grass about her new seat on the now laid out blanket in the middle of the field. "Who's there?" The girl queried, casting her eyes about. She had nothing to fear, truly, but it was always nice to keep on high alert. She couldn't be not noticing her company, after all. It was always best to face things head on, which was exactly what she had resolved to do. From this point on, into the future. Any of her previous mistakes would never be repeated again, she would learn from them and she would grow better at the duty she had. The duty that she had held since the beginning of her existence. | [atrb=width,90] words , 1046 words tagged , open ! notes , here's my first post with Destie <3 |
