Who We Are

Calcifer's Clicks is owned and run by Josiah "Calcifer" Wand. Josiah's mother raised sled dogs, and being around that gave him a love of training and working with dogs. From there, he took many classes, learning more about the learning theory and psychology. Calcifer's Clicks uses reward-based, scientifically proven methods of training. Josiah utilizes a marker - the "clicker" - and high-value rewards. He does not use electronic shock collars, prong collars, choke collars, and does not recommend head halters. Calcifer's Clicks does not allow dogs/other animals to come into classes wearing a shock, prong, or choke collar.

Available Classes

Calcifer's Clicks offers puppy courses for puppies 8-24 weeks old. After that, he offers Kindergarten classes, Basics classes, Intermediate classes, and Advanced classes. He offers competition sport training(limited). Josiah also does in-home training if the animal/owner cannot make it to his classes. Aside from dogs, Josiah is comfortable training cats, horses, birds, and rodents. (For any other species, please call and ask.) Most classes are held once a week. His behavior modification classes are for aggression and/or fear, and are for any animal.

Hours of Operation

Because this is a training company, the hours are fairly open and flexible, usually dependent on the owner. However, because Josiah works as a student teacher, his mornings and some afternoons may be unavailable. Simply email in your application, and Josiah will work with you to set an appointment.

Prices

Puppy Course: $80 for an 8-week class.
Kindergarten: $100 for an 8-week class.
Basics: $100 for an 8-week class.
Intermediate: 150 for an 8-week class.
Advanced: $200 for an 8-week class.
Behavior Modification: Email/Call for prices.
