Being cramped up in a city, any city, no matter how small was a huge change for Sky. It felt as if she was trapped at times, unable to escape with just a flick of her tail as she used to. There were so many more obstacles now, even if the ocean hadn't exactly lacked in the presenting of it's own obstacles. Every time that she held a thread of hope to escape some situation or another there always seemed to be a wall in the way. A literal wall. Definitely a large contrast from the mostly open stretches of ocean which almost always provided an easy escape to a fast moving mermaid, which pretty much described everyone that had been in her pod. If only there was a bit more of a group setting. Then she wouldn't be the odd one out. Or at least maybe not the only odd one out. Everything having to do with socializing was better in groups, right?
The beach was Sky's safe haven, and she was most definitely not in a group. Especially not here. It was funny, how many people looked at you just a bit oddly when you vaguely mentioned mermaids. She could almost see their faces if they were to witness her 'transformation'. They would probably claim themselves to be hallucinating or just a touch crazy. However, it was still safe to say that a majority of the mortals would deny the entire affair. Definitely a good thing for her circumstances. After all, she hadn't meant to show herself to that group, even if it was only her tail. Her father would have had her tail for that little slip up and demonstration of stupidity and carelessness. Not that he was harsh or anything, no, he just happened to care a lot. And, after fifty odd years, Sky really should have known better. then again, how should she have expected mortals to be wandering the beaches so early? All she had wanted was a good swim. Research shouldn't be necessary for a simple swim.
The young mermaid simply sighed and shook her head, swatting long strands of blonde hair over her shoulders in mild irritation. She was going to be going for a swim today. She couldn't care less if there were a million mortals out there with their cameras at the ready. She was fed up with this routine and there was no way that it was going to end up getting the best off her. She was not going running (or swimming) back to her pod having not made it in the 'real' world. She would make it work, somehow.
Without a single thought, except being able to finally get in the water, Sky dumped her things on the sand, carefully straightening in organizing them in under a minute. She rapidly shed the shorts she had been wearing over her bikini before taking off towards the water at a dead on sprint. A grin spread over her lips as her first foot landed in the water. Sky felt the zings of the change, like electricity and rushing water almost. The girls legs began to take longer strides into the deeper section of the supplementary version of her precious ocean. She just barely reached a part deep enough for her to be able to actually swim when her tail fully emerged. Sky settled in the water and snorted out a bit of a laugh, directed at herself. She once again swept her blonde hair, which was now damp as a result of her ungraceful fall once her tail had appeared, behind her shoulders.
"I really need to practice that." Sky murmured, shaking her head to herself in contempt for the results of her transformation. "I almost didn't make it out here in time." The addition was made in reprimand to herself as the young mermaid allowed her body to adjust to the water. It was so comforting, something that she had been so used to until a few years ago. It was natural, as if she had never actually left her pod's ocean all those few years ago. As if it hadn't been over a week since her last swim. It was the same every time, and yet the sense of home was renewed in the same manner every single time. Sky grinned at the thought, posing her tail up wards in order to propel herself further into the water as she caught sight of a figure.
The mermaid blushed in embarrassment at her unawareness, once again. Of course someone would appear, and not while her tail was under the water, either. It just had to be when it was quite obvious that there was something odd about her. She could have at least faked it under other circumstances. Swimming just a bit closer Sky grinned. "I don't suppose you'd like to make friends?" She queried, her voice quite friendly in light of her rather volatile and potentially dangerous, for herself, of course, mistake. After all, a girl could hope for a bit of friendship in favor of rumbling mobs, right?

The small vampire carefully arranged her clothe on the bed. A pink ribboned bathing suit with a black skit. Floral earrings and bracelet. All she had left to do was actually get into these clothe. But Stella didn’t feel motivated; she used to go to the beach with her family every summer. Now, being a blood thirsty vampire, she could never see her family again. They would be able to see the changes in her body. The Pale skin, the fact that her skin is hard like rock. They would see how strong she has become, the fact that she never seems to age, and heals quickly. She could never go back. It’s been two years since she got away from the man, and two years since she has last seen her parents.
Finally deciding to change Stella started to strip. She had to focus, her hands shaking. The vampire had not seen her mother in so long, her father, and oh her siblings, how she missed them all. She hoped they were all healthy and alive. But the brunette new that life must move on and this is the life that she lived now. Getting her flip-flops on she then walked to her care, slowly getting settled and driving off.
Today was the warmest day they have had so far, and many families have decided to get a little vitamin D back at the beach. Stella was guessing that this must be the more people she would be around since she turned. She just now is getting herself under control. Though it seems that keeping her thirst down was much easier with animals then with people. That is one major reason why Stella had decided to become a vet, with her nights free Stella was able to graduate one year earlier than most. She has been able to save a few lives now that her clinic is up and running. And she even has a house hold full of fur friends.
Finally arriving in the beach parking lot Stella chose a spot and gets out. Grabbing her bag before closing the door. The beach was packed full of bodies, making Stella nervous, she hoped she could keep her human composure. She then bent down and took of her flip-flops, her cold feet making the sand fell even warmer than it should. Choosing a spot a little further away from the main crowed Stella laid down her blanket and bag.
She didn’t plan on swimming. Actually she had no if a vampire could even swim or touch ocean water. She truly hopped no one would slash her tight now. From some movies she has watched, she could only guess she would melt right in front of human eyes if she came into contact with salt water. Stella craved the feeling of water on her skin though. The way it had made her relax every the summers, the times she had fun with her friends the beach had always been her friend, a way to escape city life.
Looking around, sunglasses still on, Stella though she could smell a supernatural being. She had never smelled this before scent before. It smelled like the ocean, but sweeter. Stella decided to follow the smell. Soon stumbling on to what she could only describe as a mermaid. Wow they exist? Well I guess I do, so why couldn’t they?”, the only thing she knew about mermaid is what she learned from the little mermaid and aquamarine, movies of her childhood. ’’Um, I barely know you. Plus shouldn’t you be more careful”. Stella looked around one more time, making sure no one was looking this way, or even worst walking this way. Focusing back on the girl Stella smiled, this could make a very interesting day.

’’Um, I barely know you. Plus shouldn't you be more careful?” Sky smiled slightly as the other girl spoke, shaking her head almost in disappointment at the extremely pale girl's drabness. There was simply no way that she could be friends with someone who at first thought, or statement decided to tell her to be more careful. No, no, no. Sky Brooke didn't really do careful. At least, not strictly. That just meant that Sky would have to get the girl standing before her to appreciate being not as careful anymore. After all, it was boring always having to be on your toes, looking over your shoulder to check and see if someone was about to witness your unusual superhuman like aspects. Trust Sky to know. She hadn't exactly been 'careful' in that aspect of things.
The youthful mermaid smiled, floating back just a little bit in the water, splashing just a bit. She tilted her head, almost like a curious little puppy at the curiosity in front of her. Obviously not concerned about her being a mermaid that much. Sky did, however feel the mild tingling in the back of her head and a slight need to get out of there. That definitely meant that she was in the presence of another supernatural. She had, after all, had had enough exposure to the world outside of her own pod to recognize her fellow supernaturals. It had, in fact been a main point in her training in her young life. You never truly knew whether or not you were in danger if you didn't know what you were up against. It did, after all, play a great factor in how quickly you planned your grand escape from whatever was the imposing threat before you.
Due to the distinct ticking, funny feeling in the back of her mind she inferred that the girl, or rather woman, standing before her was a vampire. Sky couldn't pinpoint what kind with that bit of information, however. It still wasn't all that important, as Sky didn't have the distinct wary feeling from her. After all, what vampire would truly make an attempt to get to know her mermaid prey. Especially knowing that mermaids were quite accomplished at escaping unwanted situations. It truly was a good thing that Sky wasn't terrified of anything unknown. If anything, she had the exact opposite attitude towards anything of that relation.
"Of course I know that we barely know each other!" Sky exclaimed in a rather sarcastically flabbergasted manner. "I was simply offering a bit of a way to remedy that." She added, giving a bit of a wicked grin and joking dark chuckle. Sky also began the slow process of moving herself towards the beach again. It was quite a bit more of a difficult process now that she had a tail to keep safe and out of the harm of rocks. After a few minutes Sky finally managed to pull herself onto land, sliding so she was entirely on the sand, albeit a bit ungracefully. She glanced down at her tail as the change back to her own legs began, the opposite of her previous 'transformation'.
Gradually, Sky's tail began to split in half, maintaining the fins where her feet would be, with only a split that would represent her legs. The transformation continued as her legs began to shrink, the scales that were typical on her tail disappearing in the same process. Next, her feet emerged from her fins and her legs, feet, and toes finally reappeared in in their correct places. The girl gave a relieved sigh and pulled herself up to her feet. It took but a moment for her to readjust to having her legs. It was made much simpler by the fact that she hadn't had the time to get used to having her tail and swimming around. The more she swam, it seemed, the more time she would need to get used to walking on two legs again. It was a bit inconveniencing at times, but it took about an hour tops. Not too long.
Sky began the walk to wear her things for the beach were set up near her new 'friend's' things. She seated herself on her beach towel, stretching her legs out in front of her before she spoke to the other girl again. "I was quite carefully." Sky retorted with a good natured manner. "If you'd take notice, there isn't anyone, except you, in the vicinity. I wasn't going to let a mortal see me." She added lightly, gesturing broadly to the rest of the beach, which was deserted for a good ways around them. She could still see the mortals in the distance, but they wouldn't be coming snooping or seeing anything that they shouldn't be seeing.
"I'm not going to make the same mistake again." Sky stated, giving a slight shrug at her admittance of the fact that things hadn't gone all that well previously. "My father would have my tail! And he doesn't even know about that one time! Imagine if he found out! The horror!" Sky exclaimed, her voice rising and falling with just a touch of a dramatic flair to it. The girl greatly doubted that her companion would know much about what she was speaking of. Granted, she might have been able to assume things, Sky still hadn't yet done anything to verify any assumptions the other girl might come up with.
"Anyway, I had a bit of a question for you." Sky stated, looking at the other girl in an inquiring manner, as if asking permission to state the question. "I was wondering what you are." The girl blinked at her own bit of bluntness, "I mean, what type of vampire you are, that is." Sky added, restating her question, as to not appear as harsh as she thought she had been. "You obviously know I'm a mermaid. In fact, I'd be more concerned if you didn't." Sky added, giving the other girl a broad grin to demonstrate the fact that she was joking.
"By the way, I'm Sky Brooke. The Mermaid." This statement was accompanied by another grin, albeit a bit mischievous. All of it, just one hundred percent Sky Katarina Brooke.
